God has gifted Kashmir with the natural beauties like beautiful lakes, meandering rivers, snowy mountains, wild forest with wildlife, wonderful meadows and colorful gardens contribute in making it “paradise on the earth”. Its beauty is being protected by the two mighty guards in the north by the Great Himalayan ranges and in the south by Pir Panjal.Not only they protect but they
also give life to its inhabitants since they form the source of major rivers which runs down the valley nurturing the orchards and forest. It is an ideal place for both the season summer and winter. If you are burning with the scorching heat in the plains then the honey dew orchard, and Shikara on the lakes with the mountains and valleys gives a cool delight to your heart. If you are sporty and want to have a fun with snow then you can undertake skiing in winter since it has perfect contours to offer. It is an ideal place for the golf lovers which are at 2700 meters above the sea level .The most fascinating and amazing are the houseboats which holds major attractions for the travelers.

Climate of Kasmir

Kashmir is situated at 32.43 Degree North (latitude) and 74.54 Degree East (longitude).Kashmir experiences four varied seasons and each one has its own rhythm. The major seasons are spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Spring- It starts from mid of March and continues till early May. The temperature ranges from 23 degree Celsius during the day time and falls to 6 degree Celsius at night. Small spell of showers with little bit windy weather are the characteristics of this season. This is the season for blossoming of the flowers.
Summer - The summer season begins from May and ends in the month of August . Summer is not so hot as compared to other parts of Northern India. Light woolen clothes are needed since the temperature varies from 20-25 Degree Celsius. This is the best time to be visited and there is a heavy traffic of travelers. The entire valley looks lively during this season.
Autumn - It is one of the coziest season starting from September and lasts till late November. This is the time when you can find the entire area turning into gold colour from green and then red. The beauty of the place is at its peak. The maximum temperature during the day time is 23 degree Celsius and the mercury goes down to 10 degree Celsius.
Winter - The winter in the valley begins from December and continues till March. The entire region is covered by the white blanket of snow. Watching the snow ranges of Pir Panjal and the Himalayas in the warmth of fire has its own unique way of enjoying the place. If you want to play with snow and would like to try some skiing then this is the most perfect time to come here.

Getting There

By Air - Srinagar is well connected by air to the cities of Delhi , Mumbai and Jammu.
By Train - All the major cities are connected by trains to Jammu Tavi.
By Road - Kashmir has god surface transport and is well connected to Delhi and other major cities of India. Leh- Ladakh is also well connected by Srinagar-Leh highway which is 434 Kms and passes through Zoji La (3505 Mts).

Foreigner's Registration

The foreigners who are coming to Jammu & Kashmir have to register themselves about their arrival and departure details . If they are coming via air then they have to register at the airport itself or else thaey can register themselves at the following address:

The people of Kashmir are very fond of non vegeteranian food. The most famous Kashmiri cuisine is Wazwan which has about 36-course wedding banquet which is served on special events. Vegeteranian do not have more choice. The favored dishes are Dum –Aloo (roasted potatoes in curd gravy) and chaman which consists of fried cheese in thick sauce. Serving
non-vegetarian cuisines to the guests are the sign of lavish hospitality. The Kashmiri chefs are expert in preparing meat based dishes which is cooked in mustard oil. Lamb is widely preferred over the others.Saffron is also used in most of the dishes since it widely grown in this region. Rice is the staple food of Kashmir.

Handicraft industry is one of the major sources of income for majority of the people residing here. The craftsmen are highly talented at their work; the finest example can be seen on the intricate designs on the carpets & rugs. Kashmiri silk saris, pashmina shawl are the bold illustration of their embroidery which is in demand over the world wide. Papier mache, wood carving and hand
knotted carpets are also brilliantly done by the highly skilled and knowledgeable craftsmen which makes their product unique in the International market.
