Gulmarg Golf Club
Gulmarg Golf Club, established by the British as a 6-hole golf course at a height of 8700 ft above sea level, is said to be one of the highest golf courses in the world. Additional ‘browns’ were soon added and the course became known as ‘The Upper Course. Later in 1915 the nine hole ‘Rabbits Course’ was built. Inspired by breathtaking landscape, gentle slopes lined with tall conifers and their passion for the game, they transformed it into one of the most beautiful 18-hole courses by the late 1920’s. The course has a fascinating peculiarity and is a unique experience- due to the rarefied atmosphere the ball ‘whistles’ as it heads for the next hole! The club has been the host of many golf championships. The temporary membership to play golf and avail of club facilities of restaurant and trainer is available.
The Kashmir Golf Club at Srinagar
Hundred years of golf in Srinagar, The Kashmir Golf Club has all the luxuries fitted that make playing golf a memorable experience. The course is spread over 52 sprawling acres of lush green land at walking distance from the Tourist Reception Centre. Its president, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, is himself a keen golfer.
