Zanskar River Trekking tour is one of the most thrilling and great adventure tour where you will walk not on roads but on white frozen Zanskar Chadar means White Sheet or blanket. The temperature goes to as low as -30° which chill the blood in a second. This tour is not for the people who are very firm and unfit; lot of courage is required to do a tour like this. From the centuries, the local inhabitants are using this route link for trading. You will also get a chance to stay and to get interact with the Zanskaris.
Day 01 : Arrival Leh
A warm welcome awaits for you at Leh Airport. Transfer to the hotel. You are free for the whole day in which you may do some shopping and you can explore the city. Night stay at hotel in Leh.
Day 02 : Drive to Sumdah Do
In the morning get ready and begin the tour with a drive to Sumdah Do. After an hour drive following the Indus river to the confluence of Zanskar River, we will reach to the Village of Sumdah-Do. After that, we will trek on and off the drozen river to the village of . Night stay at Camp.
Day 03 : Trek up the Frozen River
Today, we will begin our Chadar tour and will trek up the frozen River. The coming 5 days we will follow the same schedule starting trekking in the morning. We will have plenty of options to choose the campsites so during that time, we will make the tour itinerary and it will be flexible. Please see below the name of the places where we will stop. Trek Chilling to Dakmar Bawo (Cave). Overnight at Camp.
Day 04 : Trek Damkmar Bawo to Tibbawo
After relaxed morning, we will start trekking to Tibbawo. Later we will set up a camp for a night stay.
Day 05 : Trek Tibbawo to Nayrekste Bawo
Today, we will start trekking to Nayreste Bawo from Tibbawo. After reading Nayrekste, we will choose place to set up a camp for a night stay.
Day 06 : Trek Nayrekste Bawo Wamay Bawo
Continue the trek. Overnight at Camp.
Today, we will start trekking from Nayrekste Bawo to Wamay Bawo. After reading Nayrekste, we will choose place to set up a camp for a night stay.
Day 07 : Trek Wamay Bawo to Zangla
We will begin our trekking tour from Wamay Bawo to the village where we will stay a night in a village house. The trekking is quite long and by the evening we will reach the Village. It could be possible that we may find a village a day before close to the Zanskar River where we can stay. Namely the villages of Hanamur or perhaps Pidmu. Now we are in the Kingdom of Zanskar, where in times past there used to be two kings. One king lived at Zangla and the other at Padum.
Day 08 : Zangla to Tongdey Trek
Begin the trekking tour from Zangla to Tongdey passing through the village of Zozar. On the way we will see the largest of the strange bridges made from interwoven twigs that are unusual but common sight in Zanskar. We will also visit a very large monastery above the village
Day 09 : Tongdey to Padum Trek
Today we will trek from Tongdley to Padum and it is a trek of 5 to 6 hours. In Padum, there is a tourist houses but in the winters it remains closed so we will again stay in the accommodation in a township itself.
Day 10 : At Leisure in Padum village
We have a whole day at leisure in Padum Village. We can learn how the people has learnt the art to live in such a drastic weather conditions.
Day 11 to 17 : Return
Our trekking tour has been finished in Padum Village so today we start our return trek which is much easier and comfortable. We take a drive to Leh for a night stay at your pre-booked hotel in Leh.
Day 18 : Departure from Leh
Timely, you will be transferred to Leh airport to board the flight back to Delhi and then to home.
